Tashny is a human rights expert focusing on just transition, decent work, and migration. With over 10 years of experience in public policy, research, and journalism, Tashny uses a multidisciplinary approach to devise solutions that push systems towards greater accountability, sustainability, and equity. Tashny has consulted for UK PACT, UNDP, the ILO, Bursa Malaysia, the International Federation of Journalists, the International Domestic Workers Federation, the ASEAN Research Center, the Labour Law Reform Coalition, the Responsible Business Alliance, Vérité, and the World Bank. She was the Lead Writer for Malaysia’s 2025 Voluntary National Review.

Tashny was previously a journalist with bylines in the South China Morning Post, The New York Times, and Al Jazeera English. Her coverage of migrant workers and refugees during Malaysia’s cordon sanitaire saw her named a global information hero by Reporters sans frontières.

Education: Tashny holds an MA in Human Rights Law from SOAS, University of London and a BA in Communications and Media from the University of South Australia.
