Saran Anandan has a research and professional focus on sustainability, climate resilience, and regenerative agriculture. His doctoral work is grounded in sustainable and regenerative approaches to agriculture, examining how biologically driven strategies can strengthen soil–plant systems and support more resilient, resource-efficient production in the context of climate change.

Beyond research, Saran has experience in food-systems collaboration and stakeholder engagement. He has organised an international conference focused on food systems in Small Island Developing States (SIDS), convening researchers and practitioners to address the intersecting challenges of climate vulnerability, sustainable agriculture, and food security. Through his work, he has also collaborated with some of the region’s most renowned experts in food security and sustainable agriculture, strengthening his ability to translate scientific evidence into practical, systems-oriented insights that support climate-informed decision-making and sustainability outcomes.

Education: Saran holds a BSc in Biotechnology from the University of Nottingham Malaysia, and is currently completing his PhD in Biotechnology from the University of Nottingham Malaysia.
